i was born and lived in New York State for
my first thirty-one years, five or six hours
from the city. for the past thirteen years,
i've lived near Hartford CT, about two hours
from NYC, but have never visited.

cities are for the young, i guess, or for the
people born there. i like to maintain my
elbow room. though cities can be beautiful.

:) i agree... city life isn't really for me, but there are some advantages. and yes, some can be beautiful. i did like ny more than i expected - i guess that when you have that many people in such a small space, everyone can find something interesting there. i found poetry there, more dense than i have ever seen. that was nice. i wouldn't live there for more than a couple of months, though...

i lived very close to Salt Lake City
for nineteen years. that is my kind
of city, though some of the people
are rather odd. :O

and, even with the occasional temperature
inversion, the climate is excellent! :)

[including my ten years in the Nashua NH
area, my 73rd is less than two weeks away.]

[then, retirement from work six weeks later]
